Designed by architect Moshe Safdy, the National Museum of Canada is an architectural landmark of Ottawa. It is an architectural masterpiece with prism-like glass towers that replicate the lines of nearby Parliament buildings. The glass contrasts with the design of the medieval castle of Laurier, yet the attraction is still appropriate for the modernity of Ottawa's tourism concept.
Inside, galleries show Aboriginal art, track the evolution of Canadian art from religious works to the G-7, explore European impressionism, and show some temporary exhibitions. Inuit Art rooms are located in the basement beneath the large glass-covered hall. For further sightseeing, the National Gallery is well located near many other attractions in the Lower Region, including Notre-Dame, the Canadian War Museum and Major Hill Park
