The palace is considered one of the artistic and historical artifacts in France, where it was once used as the residence of a number of princes of the Rohan family. Construction began in 1730, and opened in 1742, after Protestant control of the city for 200 years, such as the return of Catholics to Strasbourg again
To be one of the most prominent examples of French Baroque architecture, especially those exquisite engravings and decorations, as well as unique sculptures and statues, all made it one of the most attractive tourist places in Strasbourg.
Shortly before the beginning of the twentieth century, a number of important museums were attached to the palace buildings, including an archaeological museum, a museum of artistic decoration, and a third museum of fine arts.
