Roskilde was a trade center in the Viking era, when nearly all transportation and commerce was by boat, so its position on the fjord was important, as was its central location.
Today, the harbor is still a busy place, with pleasure and fishing boats coming and going, a lovely place to stroll, ride a bicycle, or sit on a bench and enjoy the views—especially at sunset.
