The Barcelona City History Museum was officially opened on 14 April 1943 in Barcelona
Located in the Gothic city district, the museum is dedicated to researching, displaying and preserving the history of Barcelona since its origins in Roman times.
The museum is one of the most important tourist attractions in Spain, and manages many sites and archaeological sites in various parts of it.
The Museum of the History of Barcelona includes a display of the remains of the ancient Roman city called Barcino, some of the medieval ruins and the contemporary city.
The museum also contains some artifacts dating back to the birth of Christ, peace be upon him, and some oil paintings of the 18th century AD.
Activities you can do
• You can stroll around the museum's halls, which contain many exhibits on the history of Barcelona and its monuments since the beginning of its ancient origins.
• As you roam the Roman Hall, you will notice some of the monuments associated with the Barcino colony and its walls. The hall also contains several remains of carved columns.
• You will also see the museum's distinctive sculptures and Gothic artifacts, and a number of exhibits highlighting the architecture and engineering of the city during the Middle Ages.
• You can also go through the hall of manuscripts and documents, some of which are up to 1500 years old, and see many paintings and various mosaic floors.
• You should visit the personal collection hall belonging to people who have lived in the city over the years, which gives a glimpse of their customs and traditions.
• Then you can take a tour of the museum around the old city roads, the Gothic Quarter, the Temple of Augustus and some houses dating back to the Roman era.
