Several expansions were made at the airport (equipped lounges) to accommodate the increase in passenger traffic (International Lounge & Abu Simbel Lounge)
In 1992, due to the huge boom in the number of tourists, a new passenger building was built on a flat (12000 square meters) with a maximum capacity (3200 passengers / hour). The total building and services are 60 acres or about 252000 square meters at a cost of about (250 million Egyptian pounds). President of the Republic inaugurated in May 1999.
