In the former Dominican monastery that adjoins San Domenico is the Museo Archeologico Nazionale dell'Umbria, with Roman and Etruscan antiquities from the Bronze and Iron Ages, some dating back as far as the 16th century BC.
The rarest piece in the museum is the third- or second-century BC Cippus Peruvianus, the longest known Etruscan inscription.
The collection includes funerary urns, Etruscan and Roman bronzes, jewelry, gold work, and works recovered from tombs of the Hellenistic period.
