The Mosque of Amr ibn al-Aas draws its importance from being the first mosque in Africa and a platform from the forensic science platforms prior to the founding of Al-Azhar, in addition to the magnificence and beauty of its distinctive Islamic design from the inside and outside and enjoys a high degree of spirituality and tranquility.
The mosque was built to replace the tent of the Islamic leader Amr ibn al-Aas in 641 AD and later included the burial of his son Abdullah bin Amr ibn al-Aas.
