The island of St. Helens (named after the wife of Samuel de Chaplin) and the artificial island of Our Lady was the site of the Expo '67 exhibition. It is now known as 'John Drabo Park' and has many attractions for families. The remains of the 1967 World Biosphere exhibition are now a museum dedicated to environmental issues.

The building is designed as a ball and is the largest structure of its kind in the world. Other tourist attractions on the islands include riding games and amusement parks in La Rond Park, the historic British Arsenal in 1820 at the Stuart Museum, the Basin Olympic (where Olympic rowing events are held), and the Gail Villeneuve racecourse.
