Located on a large island in the middle of the River Ile, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the historic Tanners District attracts many visitors to explore the winding canals, 16th and 17th century wooden houses and cobbled old streets
The most famous of them is Pine-au-Planet, which houses Tanners House and some traditional Alsatian houses with flowered balconies. To the west side are formerly covered roofed bridges and four medieval defense towers worth seeing.
