It is a very attractive and interesting castle because of its history and the wonderful nature around it. A short ferry ride from the port of Marseille is the castle d'’If on one of the islands in the archipelago of the Friuli Islands, a nature conservation area that includes the small islands of F, Bomiggs, Ratonio and Tibolin.
Spectacular scenery with protected bays, turquoise waters, pristine beaches, sand streams, and impressive limestone cliffs. Thanks to the sun's rays in the Mediterranean, light creates a stunning effect on water, and the characteristic climate allows rare species of flowers to bloom.
In this beautiful location, which is entirely one of the most beautiful places of tourism in Marseille, the castle d’If was built as a fort by King François I in the sixteenth century. Soon after, the castle was converted into a prison. In the 17th century, when Protestants were still being held collectively, Chateau DF provided relatively decent conditions for those imprisoned here. This history also appeared in Alexander Dumas' famous novel, Comte de Monte Cristo
