The Manchester Jewish Museum is housed in a former synagogue, built in 1874 with Moorish-style architecture. This building is the oldest-surviving synagogue in Manchester, and the museum is the only one of its kind outside of London.

There are beautiful original stained glass windows and ornate ironwork on display. Inside, the museum explores and celebrates the lives and importance of Jewish people in Manchester, through a number of permanent collections and exciting events.

Learn about Jewish life in the city through items, documents, photographs and spoken stories, providing an immersive understanding of the role Manchester’s Jewish community played in the city’s growth.
