The Château de Villandry was built in the 16th century by Jean-Louis Breton, Minister of Finance of King François I, and is famous for its magnificent Renaissance gardens. The landscape was designed in French style for the first time in the 16th century.

From the top floor of the palace, a series of steps lead to gardens covering a large area of five hectares. On the left is an ornamental garden, with four well-appointed "living rooms" of greenery.

The first salon, called Garden of Love, was designed in the style of Andalusian gardens (with four geometric flower beds), each flowerbed representing a different type of love. Outside the ornamental gardens, there is a vegetable garden planted with vegetables illustrated in decorative geometric forms.

Similar to the gardens of the medieval monastery, Herb Garden has 30 species of medicinal plants and medicinal herbs, cultivated in a circular family symbolizing forever. Other highlights include a labyrinth of "charmilles" (charming hedges), a water garden with an ornate pond, a view of the village of Villandry and the Romanesque church in the distance.

The "Thousand Nights" cabins, eagerly awaited, take place several evenings in July and August, when the gardens are lit with 2000 candles. At this special event, visitors can take a romantic walk through the gardens in their magical state, while enjoying the entertainment and fireworks
