The massive Ceský Krumlov Castle complex — the largest in Eastern Europe — dominates the old town and offers a fascinating look into the lives of the aristocratic rulers of Bohemia through the centuries. 

Although tracing its roots back to 1240, much of what's seen today was built in the 17th century, including the fine Rosenberg Ballroom, the splendid Chapel of St. George, the Renaissance Hall, and the Royal Apartments.
